모바일인터넷디바이스(MID:Mobile Internet Device)는 언제 어디서나 인터넷을 사용할 수 있는 휴대형 인터넷 장치. 종전의 UMPC보다 작고 휴대폰이나 스마트폰보다는 크지만 PC에서 쓰던 응용소프트웨어와 성능을 그대로 구현할 수 있다는 게 장점이다. 화면크기는 4.5인치 정도고 운용체계(OS)는 리눅스나 윈도XP 등이 사용된다. 지난달 WMC2008에서 대만 벤큐가 선보인 시제품이 대표적이다.

Joon Bum Park said...: UMPC, has not shown much promise for commercial market rather than a few early adopters, would MID be much different from that? alot of these new technology,(if we can call this really progress in technology), might find somewhat small market, the impact of mobilephone, then internet was too much of huge impact, and it would be hard to turn people to using MID even though it could brings worlds into your hands. MID in a sense, even though others might say no, is another form of PDA in fundamental. Unless it can outbreak some kind of mindbreaking technology with it, don't see hugh success factor in it, not because of technology, but people's degree of adaption.; March 31, 2008 at 10:28 PM
