Verizon to sell Palm handsets

Shares in Palm, the US-based smartphone maker, climbed sharply yesterday after Verizon Wireless, the second-largest US network operator, said it would begin selling Palm's Centro handset for $100 in its stores today.
The Centro, a low-cost BlackBerry rival with a Qwerty-style mini keyboard and touch-screen, was launched last year and has proved to be one of Palm's most successful products.
