Flexible display market to reach US$2.8 billion by 2013, says iSuppli

Flexible displays are playing an increasingly important role in the global high-tech industry, serving as the crucial enabling technology for a new generation of portable devices that are designed to combine mobility with compelling user interfaces.
Due to the arrival of Polymer Vision’s Readius pocket-sized e-reader and other such products, iSuppli Corp. forecasts the total flexible display market will reach $2.8 billion by 2013, a 35-times expansion from about $80 million in 2007.
Flexible displays are intuitively appealing to end users and product designers because of their ruggedness, thinness, light weight and novelty. Flexible displays have the advantage of safety handling compared to conventional rigid screens.
It is very interesting that we guess how many display technologies can be made into flexible screens. Traditional LCD, bi-stable LCD, OLED, electrophoretic, etc.

I am very interested in flexible lcd because of it's convenient handling. By the way, apart from it's price, I am wondering if there is any problemn about machine itself, like stable working, durability, diverse funtion and so on.
If there's anyone Who know about this question, Let me know.

The flexible display is one of many things that has finally become to the real world from what I saw in the science fiction movie. I don't remember the name of the movie, however, it was about visiting other planets.
What kind of benefit we will be able to get from this technology? great portability? display attached in the hat?
