If the commissioner accused MS for the violation of their rule. However, I don't beleive that this kind of protestt will actually change the rule of game that MS has enjoyed to maintain its monopoly position, at least in the near future. According to the rules of economy, some other providers should have better position to directly compete with MS. Then, price will go down.
We live in the competition world and we tend to buy more powerful product. If some company make better than or same product comparing to ms, this monopoly problem and high price could be solved. And in terms of competition, I also agreed with the previous comment.
