KLabs to Introduce Home Network Standard

The Korea Digital Cable Laboratories (KLabs) will introduce the standard of home network service for the Korean CATV operators. To this end, KLabs signed an agreement with the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) to share information over the development of home network. Under the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate in suggesting the standard of home network, acquiring the intellectual property rights of each other, securing the right of authentication for home network device and exchanging information on the regular basis. KLabs also reached an agreement with Entropic, a US chipset maker, to share the technical information for the development of home network. This is a part of its effort to secure the authentication of MoCA. Therefore, it will contribute to the introduction of home network service by CATV and the growth of relevant industries. Director Han Woon-yung of KLabs said, “The agreement with MoCA will help CATV subscribers enjoy the digital broadcasting and the network gaming by connecting equipments to their service. KLabs will help CATV operators meet the technical requirements of MoCA and accelerate the home network service.” Meanwhile, MoCA is a leading body of the development of home network service, which transmits and distributes the multimedia content and data through the coaxial cable. Their standard is also called MoCA.
